Chainwire is still the most widely used commercial fence in NSW because it does the job at the right price. LS Fencing Services installs temporary and permanent chainwire, with or without barbed wire, in galvanised finish or galvanised with black or green PVC coating.
Standard heights are 1800mm and 2300mm with barbed wire, with custom heights in 300mm increments up to 3600mm for sports courts, cricket nets and high security lines. Which Australian Standard does commercial chainwire fencing have to meet?
AS 1725 covers chain-link fabric security fences and gates, and the coated steel wire itself falls under AS 2423. Most government and utility specifications, including RMS, Transport for NSW and Sydney Water, call up AS 1725 and then add their own clauses on height, wire gauge, post spacing and footings. LS Fencing Services confirms the specification before quoting and installs to it.
How long does a chainwire fence take from quote to installation?
Chainwire is a stock product, so mobilisation is usually the quickest of any fence type. The program depends on the length, the site access, whether posts are concreted, baseplated or saddle fixed, and whether gates or barbed wire are in the scope. A start date and duration are confirmed with the quote.
Do I need council approval for a chainwire fence on a commercial site?
It depends on the council, the zoning and the fence. On a construction project the perimeter fence is normally covered by the development consent, and NSW exempt development rules cover some fences on commercial and industrial land. Heights above the exempt limits, heritage sites and flood areas can need approval. Ask the council or the project certifier; LS Fencing Services supplies the drawings and specification for the application.
Should I choose galvanised or PVC coated chainwire?
Galvanised is the standard commercial finish and the most economical. PVC coated black or green sits over the galvanising, so it adds a layer of protection on coastal sites and makes the fence recede visually, which is why schools, sports courts and civic sites usually choose it.
What affects the price of a chainwire fence?
Height is the biggest factor, then the topping (plain, barbed wire or none), the post fixing method, the number and size of gates, ground conditions such as rock, site access and the total length. Send the drawings, or a length and a height, and LS Fencing Services returns a detailed proposal.
What maintenance does chainwire need?
