FAQ

Frequently asked questions about commercial security fencing

Anything not covered here, the office answers on 1800 572 878 during business hours.

Which type of security fence suits a commercial site?

It comes down to the threat, the budget and how the fence needs to look. Chainwire is the economical boundary fence, crimp top tubular suits schools and corporate sites, palisade and 358 mesh are for sites where cutting and climbing are real risks, and razor wire or spike toppings add a further layer. LS Fencing Services recommends a system after reading the specification or walking the site.

What standards and compliance apply to commercial security fencing?

The relevant Australian Standards for the product, such as AS 1725 for chainwire, plus the principal's or asset owner's specification. LS Fencing Services runs ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 certified systems and holds a SCEC endorsed product range for protectively marked sites, with SWMS, inspection and test plans and inductions on every job.

Can one contractor supply the fence, the gates and the automation?

Yes. LS Fencing Services fabricates and installs the fence line, the sliding, swing and pedestrian gates with matching infill, and the operators and access control, then commissions the lot at handover. One contractor means one program and one point of responsibility.

Do I need council approval for a security fence?

Often not on a construction project, where the development consent covers the perimeter, and NSW exempt development rules cover some fences on commercial and industrial land. Heights above the exempt limits, heritage items, flood areas and razor wire can need approval or a risk assessment. Check with the council or the certifier; LS Fencing Services provides the drawings and specification.

How long will the installation take?

Chainwire can mobilise quickly. 358 mesh, palisade, tubular panels and gates are fabricated and galvanised first, which adds a fabrication period. Large perimeters are staged so the site stays secure throughout. The program is confirmed with the quote.

Do you maintain and repair existing security fences?

Yes. LS Fencing Services offers maintenance, reactive repair, safety audits and inspections for existing fence lines and gates, and commissioning, training and auditing services for perimeter systems.
